A TWENTY YEAR WAIT TO WORK EUROPE ON SIX METERS

CONTACTS with MM0AMW, EI7IX and G0JHC on July 24, 2003!

No radio amateur in VE6 had never ever heard sigs from EU, except for one occasion years ago when VE6BCC was heard in Scotland. He was unable to complete a contact..I had been on 6M for more than thirty years, formerly operating from Rochester NY with the call K2JFV, which I still hold to date.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN?

Much credit goes to WA5IYX who posted an alert that the OH2 logger had reported that VE6EMU/B was being heard in Europe! I elected to get the 300W to 4 elements @ 30 feet, mini station running since time could be a problem. Within two minutes I called CQ on 50.125mhz:........... then between 17.54 and 18.10 UTC VE6JW completed with: MM0AMW, EI7IX and G0JHC. After18.13 UTC no signals were heard!

 

 

Look at it this way!: during something like 17 minutes out of the past 20 years VE6JW completed with three European Stations. i.e.. 17 parts in 525,600 minutes of chance had succeeded.
